Why I’m attending Blissdom
I’m not a Mommy Blogger, I’m not even a huge blogger – I do have this blog which I post to on a random basis. I’m a graphic designer- which means I”m not a writer, I’m visual. Matter of fact, as I started to check the #Blissdom twitter feed, I told my daughter I was feeling old (since my baby was turning 25 this year) especially when I opened the sponsor box and the SO CUTE – Hallmark Recordable Book was there to leave with your kids while you’re gone.
So why am I going to this conference?
1. Because I love that Moms have figured out how to stay at home and produce an income! I want to applaud and encourage you!
In 1992 I was 28 and had two small children at home and knew I needed to make more income. The only option I considered was working at home so I could be with my children. In 1992 it was much more difficult to be taken seriously as a “REAL BUSINESS” if you worked at home. The first desktop computers were available at a reasonable price (sort of) and nobody really understood what they did – but we still didn’t have the internet. I found a small group of women who were also trying to work at home and we met monthly to encourage each other, support each other and learn from each other.
I love that the email that came out this morning stated Blissdom is a conference for Pioneers – I’ve been grateful for Pioneers in the past, and I’m excited to learn from these wonderful ladies who are now Pioneers of the Blogging World!
2. Because I want to learn from you!
My adventure in the early 90’s was pretty much on my own. Without the luxury of the internet, I had to learn from old fashioned books! LOL from the LIBRARY!! How wonderful that we can learn so quickly from each other, from a quick Google search, or even from a shout out on Twitter to our new friends from Blissdom!
3. Because the topics are relevant to me as a graphic designer even if I don’t blog (alot)!
To the sponsors, the creators and the future attendees: I can’t wait to attend the Wednesday Workshops on Business, and both Keynote speakers. There are so many great options on Thursday and Friday afternoons, I’m struggling to decide which sessions to attend. They are all very relative to my business as a graphic designer. I design blogs, websites and need to understand the BUSINESS of blogs to be able to design well. I’m excited to learn as I have been for 20 years!
4. Because maybe I WILL blog more!
Who knows…you are all very inspirational!!! Thank you ahead of time!
Can’t wait to meet you all!
Becky

See you in a few days.
God Bless.

Awesome event Julie – I met great people, learned a ton, and was inspired by the creativity I saw and heard from these women from all over the country! I’m planning on returning next year!
