What is Self-Publishing
Today, publishing a book is a possibility for any writer. Although Traditional Publishing still is an option, they are very selective and expect the author to have a significant audience already established. When they choose to invest in a book they expect it to have a quick return on their investment. They also assume all creative control.
Self-publishing your book allows:
- You, the author to retain all rights and ownership
- You, the author to set the price and earn all the profits
- You, the author to make all creative decisions
- You, the author to publish your book on any distribution channel you choose
Setting the Standard for High Quality Self-Publishing
Anyone can write a book, upload it to KDP and have a book published in a short amount of time. In theory it’s easy, but that is also why, self-publishing can have a poor reputation. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. 😄
We believe a book should be written well and edited professionally before it’s published.
We also strongly believe the cover design and interior formatting should be at the same level of excellence or even better than a traditional publisher.
As graphic designers with over 30 years of experience in print design, we know how to create a well-designed book. We love creating beautifully designed books, inside and out. We know how to prepare the finished files for any printer and uploaded them without error to the POD (Print On Demand) distributor of your choice.

Our Self-Publishing Services
We first became involved with self-publishing because our authors asked for help. We stepped up to assist them with the technical side of uploading the book files we had created and made sure it was done correctly. We took the stress out of the upload process.
Now we assist the self-published author in choosing and setting up the accounts on each of the online sites necessary for the book to be printed and sold. The author always has full ownership of the accounts.
We became passionate about making sure every book we had designed was also prepared to sell – to the right audience, on the right distribution channel, with the author understanding and in control of the entire process.
We work with our authors to make the best choices pertaining to:
- Distribution options
- Account(s) set-up
- Obtaining ISBN numbers through Bowker.com*
- Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN) User Guide Here
- Understanding and pricing the book
- Choosing keywords and categories
- Marketing opportunities and timelines
- Copyrighting your book after publication (U.S. Copyright Office)
- Amazon Author Central Page (Find out more here)
We manage the following for you:
- Review and populating all metadata on accounts (ISBN and Distributor)
- Obtaining barcode with ISBN and price listed for book cover
- Upload of the final book to distribution channel(s)
- Order proof copies for author and BGD
- Manage print approval of publication
- Enable distribution of book release to retailers
The Book Release
Once your book is released to the public, our job is finished until you’re ready to publish the next one!
Many other publishing models retain rights to your manuscript and/or printing control. We don’t, all accounts are in your name and you own all the files.
Congratulations on writing your book, now let us help you take the stress out of the publishing process!
“Working with Becky has been a terrific experience. As a first time author, the thought of publishing a book was a daunting and scary thought. Becky was recommended to me by a friend who also had a very rewarding association with her which gave me the confidence to proceed with my project. Becky guided me through the entire process virtually holding my hand through the writing, editing, design, application, printing and distribution processes. I have literally just seen the first printed copy and after all of the time I have spent with this project even I was impressed! I would recommend Becky’s Graphic Design to anyone who is thinking about publishing a book or any other design project. In addition to being a quality, competent professional and designer she is truly a delightful human being.”
