Cover design

ebook version of complex book format

Self-publishing can be a complex industry. There are so many ways to produce and distribute your manuscript depending on the end goal of your book. Our goal at BGD is to walk through the process with you, guiding you to success, while providing excellent formatting for your book and cover. We begin every book project with general questions and then dig into the specifics. For this book project we asked these questions first.

  • Has your manuscript been professionally edited? (We don’t accept your manuscript until it’s been edited professionally, this saves you money in the long run!)
  • Where do you expect to sell your book? (Online or in bookstores, or purchasing copies in bulk? This determines the printer/publisher)
  • How will you be marketing your book? (As a self-published author, you are responsible for making sure the book sells! But don’t worry – we can help you build your marketing materials!)
  • What format will you want? An ebook, paperback or hardcover edition?

This book project began in August and while we waited for the editing to be completed we worked with the co-author to gather the additional information needed for publication. These included:

  • Professional Author photograph
  • Author short bio – 3-4 lines of copy for back cover
  • Author long bio – 350 words max for meta data
  • Book Description – 350 words max for back cover and meta data
  • Any Imprint information, icon, website address, etc. (An imprint is the name of the publisher, which is you or a business entity)
  • ISBN and Barcode information

This book cover background collage was designed in Photoshop with images supplied by the author. We then created the title block as vector art in Illustrator and combined the parts in InDesign using the specific cover template supplied to us from IngramSpark. the publisher this client chose to use.

At Becky’s Graphic Design we believe our job is to help you produce a beautifully designed, professional book, while holding your hand through the process. Our price point enables us to work with you through the steps to get it done, but you own all the rights and royalties from the sale.
