Book Marketing for Introverts
I’ve worked with many authors that prefer not to be in the spotlight of their book marketing efforts. It’s one thing to write a book, it’s another to have to talk about the book all the time or be expected to talk on social media daily about it.
But every author knows if they don’t figure out how to market their book, it will not sell. Just because it’s published, even on Amazon, it doesn’t guarantee a sale.
I always remind them the beauty of having a physical product is the ability to simply display the product in front of their audience. Make the book do the work and be the focus of all the book marketing.
For instance:
- Set up a table and place stacks of your book and everybody wanders over to check them out. Set up a poster and display it next to the books with a QR code and people can order your book, and sign up for your email list. See Charlotte’s Book Here
- If you’d like something even less low-key, but still very effective find gift stores, museums, small retail shops and work with them to carry your book. One of our authors has his book in the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame. He figured out who was in charge of the bookstore and connected with them, eventually leading to them carrying his book in the museum bookstore. See Kevin’s Book Here
- We even have an author who chose to make postcards of artwork from his book and he sent the postcards to physical addresses he’d assembled. His postcard featured beautiful artwork on one side and a QR code (made with Bit.ly using a link from BookFunnel.com) which allowed the user to download a sample of his book for free. He never had to interact with anybody. We designed the postcard, sent it the printer, they addressed the card and mailed them for him.
