Rebecca Barrett writes historical fiction, cozy mysteries, post-apocalyptic fiction (written as Campbell O’Neal), children’s stories, and short stories about life in the South. An avid reader all her life and a product of “front porch” socializing, she became a storyteller at an early age.
This detective series is set in the deep South of the sixties featuring Hugo August, a Vietnam veteran, as her protagonist. The second book in the series, “She Had To Die”, is taking shape as our intrepid author rocks out to the great sixties music and delves into the good vibes, high times, and social unrest of that era.
PROJECT SCOPE:
Rebecca has been traditionally published before but contacted us in late April to help her self-publish after realizing the process was more challenging than expected. She needed 100 paperback books printed for a conference in the middle of June, which gave us just a few weeks to design, format, and upload her book to the print-on-demand distributors.
The author has searched to find the perfect male model for the cover but when we did our homework we realized she needed an additional license to use the image on the cover of her book. We reached out to the stock company and helped her obtain the proper permission and saved her from another long search and a massive headache later on.
Thankfully she had the manuscript done and we were able to meet her deadline with a few days to spare. Now we can start work on the cover design for book two!
