Back in November 2021, I had a chat with my client, Parastu Mehdawi. She shared her dream with me – she wanted to self-publish her memoir and see it gracing the shelves of a bookstore. For seven years, she had been pouring her heart into this memoir. She had knocked on the doors of traditional publishers, but they didn’t show interest. Undeterred, she embarked on a self-publishing journey, soaking up all the knowledge she could find on the subject. She stumbled upon the Alliance for Independent Authors and became a member, immersing herself in their resources and tuning into their podcasts. She also found Joanna Penn, an author and publisher, whose podcasts and book series she devoured. Through these experiences, she became a well-informed writer. She knew the steps she needed to take, but she wanted a guide, someone who could steer her towards designing and publishing her book. That’s when she reached out to us.
PROJECT SCOPE:
She had a crystal clear vision for her book cover – she wanted it to echo the style of Michelle Obama’s book. She arranged for a professional photographer, and we armed her with a list of crucial tips for the photoshoot. The outcome? Absolutely breathtaking! Cynthia Summers, a renowned Canadian photographer, did a phenomenal job, supplying us with spectacular images. Her excellent work made our task a whole lot easier.

Para spent years writing her book, trying to publish and dreaming about “someday” – now she is a #published#author with her book in hardcover, paperback and an ebook available across the world through #IngramSpark and #KDP distribution.
